Advice wanted for new ebay seller.

Hi people. Wondered if you could help advise me. I've just sold a camcorder on ebay and it has been paid by Paypal by a UK seller. I've only ever sold a couple of tops on ebay before, and I want to be really sure I avoid any problems.

What's the safest way to send this via Royal Mail, bearing in mind it cost £100? Safest as in - won't break, insured and I know it has got there. And is there anything else I should know?

I'd really appreciate any helpful tips. Thanks.

  • Hiya ,

special delivery is the safest as in it's tracked all the way and insured up to £500.

I agree special delivery is the only way to do this. However the packing is up to you to get right. My step father who worked for the pO always said once it is wrapped you should be able to drop the package onto a concrete floor from waist height without any damage..only then do you know your packing is good enough.

Original box and packaging if you have it, plus a bit of bubblewrap and vai SD if less than 2kg. If over 2kg a courier might be cheaper.

If you don't have origibnal box just ensure camcorder is very well wrapped in bubblewrap your big danger is it gets thrown around in the post.
  • Thank you everyone for your help. It's now been sent off, and hopefully all is good!

Can I please also recommend that you put your receipt with the tracking in a safe place and keep it for at least 6 months as that is how long a claim via a credit card on paypal can be started.

You can also enter the tracking on paypal and that sends an email to the buyer as well to let them know item has been posted.

I also advise that you decide on your delivery method before listing.
