Paying off creditors post discharge

Hi all,
Not seen any posts which would answer this so posing the question.
Is it possible to still pay off creditors once discharged? Either via full or settlement amounts?
Only asking as i would like to pay creditors off, after all i did borrow the money so i should pay it back.
Thanks in advance.

If you have enough to clear them all and pay the OR fees then you can try and get your BR annulled?

yeah sure, if you can pay them all off, and the insolvency Service fees.

Have you had a windfall, or should you not have gone BR in the first place?

  • Gone BR as insolvent, no IPA as no work at the mo, and sent back EDREV forms 6 weeks ago. But i would still like to pay the money back when i can in the future.

That's an honourable attitude but once you are discharged from bankruptcy you are discharged from your debts and therefore have none.

I do appreciate what you're saying and very much respect you for it but once discharged move on and look to the future, not the past :).

The only legal way to pay the debts back is through your OR. If the debts and fees can be paid then the BR can be annulled.

I understand how you may feel, but if you try to do it unofficially then you are dancing with trouble.

  • Thanks for the replies, is the only way to go through the OR after discharge to pay the debts off?
  • As admirable as it may be I don't think the debts would legally exist anymore so you could be in murky waters

Strange Post. Why did you put yourself through the heartache of going BR and all that reloves around it, only to " revisit " it again after discharge.
I can understand it if your family or friends were included in your BR, but otherwise I must be missing something... or maybe then again my ethics are just shot to pieces!
  • What if you owed money to a close family member? Who's to say you cant 'gift' small amounts of money to that relative several years after discharge? Would OR ever find out?
