£2.00 may not be a lot to you or I, but in the far east it represents a lot more.

When I was out there a few years ago, I posted back a 6kg package via regular airmail for the equivalent of £4 - to send the same package back from the UK to China would be around £90.
Likewise with electronic products - basic 1gig MP3 players were leaving the factory in bulk at around 80p per unit.

But they would not get the £2 as they have to pay for the item first and then the ebay listing and selling fees, paypal costs and finally the postage cost to UK.

Surely there can't be much left out of the £2 after you have paid everything else?

Yes they are, but since a huge proportion of stuff that is bought over here is also made in China, I actually find it (slightly) more ethical to buy direct. I don't buy branded stuff though, I really can't stand fakes.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I have to say in my experience of ordering the "from Hong Kong" etc items, I never have had a genuine product yet. I can normally tell as they either don't work or fall apart in days. Lessons learnt: never give feedback before a week of use, always check with legitimate source before testing electrical items with your own electrical items (fusing, corrupting machines, blowing up/smoke or just failing to work can and have happened) and always read full neg and neutral feedback.

Would love if the products I ordered were geinune, I'd have saved loads! but unfortunely they never seem to be (cosmetics, sony goods, electrical goods, skin care things...)
  • I am not that niave that I believe that these items are genuine, that was not my point.

ps I would never buy anything from China to put on my skin!!
