Hello, i was just wondering if anyone could give me any advice.
Basically, I passed my driving test last november and since then have unfortunately had to make 3 claims. THe first was not my fault, the second was, and the third was classed as accidental damage. I am currently paying £130 per month for my insurance which is more than i can afford. SO i did a check on confused.com to see if i could get cheaper insurance, possibly going onto third party rather than comprehensive. i found some great quotes which were loads cheaper so excitedly rang tesco and told them i wanted to cancel my insurance with them, only for them to tell me that to do so i would have to pay for the rest of the year of my insurance (5 more months!). THey said this was due to my claims. I just wanted to know if this is right? I think it seems really unfair. THere is no way i can get my insurance down any cheaper till my contract with them ends. but what if i was to say sell my car?? i dont understand how it works and would be most greatful of some advice. many thanks alice xxxxxxxxxxx

Hi..
I had a similar thing happen to me.
Had a claim - DS opened his car door on to another in a car park.
After selling my car and trying to cancel the insurance Tesco told me that I was not able to have a refund for any months that were owing as there had been a claim on the insurance...even though I had full protected no claims etc....
Is this the same for other insurance companies does anyone know ?

Yes this is right and applies to any insurance policy, not just cars.
For example if you claim on pet insurance and then the animal dies, you still have to pay the full 12 months premium because you have utilised the policy.0 -
Bear in mind you're actually paying instalments on an annual policy, not just paying for cover a month at a time. Would you expect them to ask for some of the claim money back if you left before twelve months were up?Everyone needs something to believe in.
I believe I need another beer.0 -

Yes, it is the same with all companies.
I see your point to an extent, but you have had three claims on your vehicle, if you add up what the repairs to your vehicle would have cost you to repair for each of those claims, it will quite probably total more than the £1320 you are paying to your insurer.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
