Changing Easyjet flights at Gatwick....your experiences please

I plan to go from Faro (Portugal) to Inverness via Gatwick in the autumn.

The time between (Easyjet) flights is a very tight 80mins, but I shall have hand baggage only & will check-in online. Removing the 25 mins before boarding closes leaves just under an hour to from plane landing to the next gate if all is well.
The problem is the size of the darned place! - Can it be done? -

Bristol is a three-times dearer alternative with the chance of a 3 hour gap on a Saturday. Better for nerves if not purse.

Your experiences much appreciated. thxs:)

Gatwick is much less spread out than Heathrow. Even though EasyJet has flights from both the North and South terminals it only takes 5 mins to get between the two. You should get your flight if the incoming flight is not more than 30 mins late.

Don't do it. Easyjet are a point to point airline, and they will take absolutely no responsibility if your flight from Faro is late. I very much doubt that travel insurance will pay out with such a tight connection too - so in this case, you would be far more advised to play it safe.
    From Poland...with love.

The books are sitting just there on the floor.

Without knowing your exact date of travel i would hazard a guess that (subject to price) it would work better going via Luton.

That's not entirely accurate. If you're on your return journey and are at the airport within 2 hours of your intended departure time EasyJet will book you on the next flight (unless full) for a fee of £38. It will also move you to an earlier flight on the day free of charge if not full.

Bearing in mind the above, would it be a good idea to book onto a later flight to Faro if there is one and then move to the earlier one if there is space (there will probably be at least 1 seat...) The worst that could happen then is that you have to sit around a bit at gatwick if the earlier flight is full.

You can wait longer than that for the train connecting the terminals.
