What currency to take to Turkey??

Hiya! This is my first post!:o
Im travelling to Turkey in 2 weeks, and im getting conflicting messages about the best currency to take. A friend has said that Euro's are best, while another has said that Turkish lira are preferable. Has anyone been recently? What did you use? Also, We are headed to Kusadasi, does anyone have any tips for eating out, child friendly bars etc?
TIA, Paula x

Hi there, we have been to turkey many times and we take enough turkish lira for a day or two and we take the rest in english. A lot of the market traders and shop keepers will ask you for english notes if they know you have them and quite often they do give you extra when buying things if you pay in english. I have not been to Kusadasi so cant really help you there but, usually all bars and eating places are very child friendly.

Why would you take Euro to a destination like Turkey?

Having said this, I'd expect the Turks to rip you off royally if you use Pounds.
    From Poland...with love.

    They are (they're)
    sitting on the floor.
    Their
books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.

Hi, we flew back from Turkey on Saturday (6th) after 1 of our many visits. We only take a few lira with us and then change our £'s out there as the rate can sometimes be better ie last week we were getting 2.45lira to the £ where as the week before when we changed some money into lira here we got less than 2.30lira to the £.
    Enjoy your holiday its

I got back from Turkey yesterday.
Most of the prices were in Euros which we had to keep asking what the Lira price was.
Take a mixture of Euro, Lira and Pounds.
The shops in Bodrum did not like our big 50 Lira notes so if you can get smaller money. We changed some up at our hotel before heading off to town.
By the way Bodrum airport is a complete rip off a can of coke was 5 euros!
We took drink with us to the airport and it was not confiscated.
