help needed please

as of today i am no longer claiming incapacity benefit because i want to help my partner set up a business , i have seen a part-time job that i could do with my health problems to get a bit of money whilst things are setting up and would like to apply for this today

the problem being is i have a gap on my cv from january 2007 till today with the odd bit of bar work having been done last year so my question is should i put on my cv that i have been unemployed for health reasons or how else do i explain the fact i have been out of work for last two years

I would suggest you be quite open and truthful about it and put on your CV that you were unemployed for health reasons.

I guess you may want to put in a cover letter to go with the CV (or if you get a chance to speak to someone) as to why you feel you are suitable for the job and the reasoning as to why the health issues will not impact on your ability anymore (to remove any concerns).

I would agree with pjcox here. The key is to turn, what could be construed as a negative, into a positive. Impress upon the reader of your cv how you have worked to overcome the limitations of your health condition and are now at a point in your life where you no longer feel it would impact on your availability for particular types of employment. This explanation would indeed be better in a covering letter rather than in the body of the CV itself.
