Egypt questions!!

Sorry if these questions are covered elsewhere or this is in the wrong forum, I just have some small questions.

Having read other posts I was wondering if its better to take Travellers Cheques or the prepaid card to Egypt (Sharm). I am taking some Egyptian pounds with me just to tide us over for the first few days, as I believe the exchange rate is better in Egypt.

Also, on a completely different subject, what would people say is a decent tip. I dont want to offend, but then this is MSE so I dont want to be too generous!!!

Any help appreciated.
