Which are the best student accounts available?

I haven't been able to find work yet for summer, money is running out fast and my uni are not going to allow me to register for my final year because I haven't been able to afford last semesters fees yet (because I had to use my maintence loan to pay for my rent, food and bills).
I've tried to get my bank to extend my overdraft because I am almost up to my limit of a thousand pounds after having to use it to pay towards Januarys fee instalment, but my bank won't allow me any more credit.
Does anyone know of a really good bank that is still willing to loan to students at the moment? I know taking on more borrowing is silly and it goes against everything I feel, but it's either that or I have to pull out and I would rather be bettering myself and working hard for a good job when I leave (and then I can pay it back) rather than pull out and be trapped on a long recession dole queue while I hunt for badly paid work that will likely keep me trapped in a spiral of debt for years to come.
I would very much appreciate advice on which are the best banks to apply to and which are the ones to avoid?

None I suspect. Its so late in the year banks don't tend to give any overdrafts because of desperate people.0
