Advice needed on last minute long haul flights

Hi, my aim is to get to Bali this weekend, flying from London on Friday (very last minute and a bit ambitious I know.)
I've read Martin's guide and tried the screenscrapers but what's on offer is still out of my budget. My question is whether I'm likely to get a better deal on a long haul flight or are they more likely to go up given this is only two days away?
Any advice appreciated!
Tim

Scheduled fares will not come down in 2 days, if it is too expensive now, you need to think of going somewhere else0

Tim,
What's your budget?
When are your returning?
Are you flexible by a day or so?
How many of you?
Answer those and i'll see what I can come up with. I'm looking at a similar scenario for Thailand for myself at the mo.0 -

Thanks Moonchild -that's really kind.
My budget is £350; one person travelling
Departure would be Fri 5th June/Returning Tues 16th (flexible)0 -
I'll be amazed if you can find a 350 pound fare to Bali with this kind of notice! From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
Sorry Tim, £350 is pretty ungettable to Bali (remember you're only a 2 hour flight from Australia, you are going a long way).
I could find a £420 with Malaysian departing on the 7th, with compulsory stopovers in both directions, or Singapore Airlines for £445 on perfect dates, with great connections on the A380 in both directions between Heathrow & Bali.
Bali has a lack of airlines, so you are restricted. You can £380 - £400 to Jakarta, but by the time you've added on internals you're better off going on Singapore.
It's one of the cheapest countries in the world to go to, so put your hands in your pockets and find the extra £100!0 -
Thanks Moonchild (and eveyone else) for the time & advice - really appreciated. I'll find that £100 somewhere (starting with the back of the sofa...;)) Happy travels!0
