Manchester Airport

We are going to Florida in August, and I'm just about to book the train tickets to get to Manchester Airport.

We fly at 11.30am, so I was going to get the train that gets into Manchester Airport Station at 8.47am.

How far from the airport is the station, and will that leave us enough time to get there and still leave the 2 hour gap you need for flying overseas?

TIA :)

ETA: Also does anyone know how long on average it takes to get through customs on the way back? We land at 10am, so I was looking at the 12pm train home.
Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:

    The train station is within the airport bounderies and moving walkways
    take you to all terminals in a few minutes.

    Never flown to the USA but on arrival from Europe it is rare for transit
    from aircraft to the train station to take more than 45 minutes.

    <ageoldquestion>
    what if your train is delayed for an hour....
    </ageoldquestion>

    2 and a half hours is alright, but to be on the safe side, i'd try get the half hour earlier train at least...

    on the way back from NYC, i've never taken more than 40 mins getting my bags etc, but I am registered for IRIS, which can speed things up

    :think: That age old question never occurred to me. I might go for the earlier one then which gets in an hour earlier.

    I agree with Markymoo ( he's always right;))
    Get the earlier train for sure. If a little too early can grab a coffee or a beer, however too late would not be worth thinking about nevermind it happening.
