Do you pay your rent weekly or monthly?

If you pay weekly then 4 weeks notice is required, if monthly then 1 months notice is required. In both cases notice needs to end at the end of a rent period.

If you are on a monthly tennacy, ending on the 6th of each month (as paying rent on 7th June would suggest), then by 6th June you need to give notice to leave on or before 6th July. You would be expected to pay rent for the whole monthly priod to 6th July.

Presumably your fixed term tenancy agreement has expired and you are now either renting from month to month or week to week?

So that you can work out what your correct notice period should be, you need to look at the expiry date of the original fixed term, not just the date when you pay your rent. When did it finish?

Think you will find you have to pay to July 7th (life is hard and life is not fair, sorry) assuming you are in a periodic tenancy (ie beyond the end of any initial fixed term like 6 or 12 months). Otherwise you will have to pay to end of fixed term...

However the Landlord may be flexible if it suits him & he can easily get a new tenant. Make sure everything you give in is in writing & you have a copy...

    Cheers!
