Hello everyone
I first made a claim back in march 27th 209.
papers were going back and forward from my college saying the date i had finished therte.
Because Makerfield did not give me enough time to get the letters to them, they closed my claim so i had to re-sign on.
on May 7th 2009 i re-signed on, and was told to sign out a JSA5 form to back date the payments from March 27th.
I got a letter back today saying they will pay from the 7th may.
who process the JSA5 form?
i am going to ring up on Monday, but just wondered if anyone thought i would get it backdated.
Thanks for all your help.

Do you know who you spoke to, and whether they did put it on the system? Did you explain all of this on the backdating form? Did you reapply immediately after receiving notification that your claim had been closed?
Your backdating claim will be assessed separately from your main application. Therefore it is possible that your claim has been successful, but you have not received notification yet. You should receive notification regarding your backdated claim whether successful or not.
Don't be disappointed if you don't get responses so quickly - it is the middle of the night!Gone ... or have I?0 -
Yes i reapplied immediatly. No i dont no, she never said her name.
but on numerous occasions when i rung up they would look at my notes to say my letters were recieved and there were notes on them saying i rang up and explained it was half term.
the job centre just told me to put what dates i first signed on and that was that.
Sorry for wanting answers quickly.
Many thanks for your help dmg

Many thanks for explaining it to me, hopefully i will hear something postive, as been without money since march, been on the borrow from family.
Just gonna mention you are a really helpful person!0 -
Yes you can appeal against it, and yes they should back date it, if they keep trying to fob you off go to your ombudsman, tell them the situation and they should be able to deal with the jobcentre quickly. They'll contact the jobcentre get all the information from their side, read through it and compare it with what you tell him, and then they can tell the jobcentre to fix their problem or else.
If you dont know who your ombudsman ask at the jobcentre, they should tell you.
problem with the jobcentre is they dont know what one hand is doing with the other.
i've been told one thing by one person, and on the same day not 3minutes later have been told a completely different story.0 -
Many thanks, im new to the benefit system so have no idea whats going on.
Andy, i will ask who the ombudsman is.
Mnay thanks for the help, such a kind user!0 -
The Ombudsman will deal with complaints, not appeals. Therefore you should only need to contact them if they are not following the correct appeals procedure (if indeed you need to appeal at all). If you need to go that far (and I would hope that you don't need to), it is usually easier to do it via your MP.
Let us know how you get on when you speak to someone on Monday.Gone ... or have I?0
