Hi everyone,
I have been looking around this forum and you all seem so helpful, so I wondered if anyone could help me!
I have just graduated from university and have had an interview for a sales and marketing job. I have now been called back for a second interview which entails presenting a sales and marketing campaign which needs to be an hour long!
Does anybody know what I should put in this presentation?
Any help would be greatly received!
Thanks in Advance

An hour???
Are you sure the second interview isn't an hour and the presentation is just, say, 5 or 10 minutes???0 -
Hi everyone,
Does anybody know what I should put in this presentation?
No, because this is an insufficient brief for an hour.
What are you meant to be marketing?
Who is the audience for the presentation?
What are their marketing goals?Debt free 4th April 2007.

well the slot I have been allocated is an hour, so maybe the presentation doesn't have to last the whole time!
I was jsut wondering if anyone could help with the key elements of a campaign. It is for marketing B2B services!

As above, Get clarification on exactly what is required, an hour is a long time to fill.
When I have asked candidates to do a presentation its been a max of 10 mins.0 -
If you don't know the basic elements of a sales and marketing campaign are you sure you should be going for that job?loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0

Thanks for that, who would turn down a potential job in the current economic climate!
OK then. So you need to know if you should make any assumptions about what you're selling and to whom, if not then you'll have to state this at the beginning.
Who are you selling to, what type of business, what size business? Where are you selling, local, regional, national, Europe, world-wide? Who are you selling to in the company (maybe more than one role, who is first tempted, who recommends, who might block, who decides)? What sort of product: large price, capital, infrequent purchase; small price, consumable, repeat & frequent purchase? What is your competition, incumbent, many or few? Do you want to compete on price, quality, reputation, reliability, innovation? Do you advertise, if so where (specialist journals, TV/radio, billboards, national/local campaign, mailshots, word of mouth..)? How do you get leads: personal recommendation, yellow pages, trade organisation membership lists? How do you approach customers: cold calling in person, phone calls, personally addressed letters followed up by phone? What are the benefits of the product you want to emphasise? Do you want to attack the competition, subtle or in-your-face? What awkward questions might you be asked, how will you answer them? How long will the campaign last, will you change things part way through (a series of ads...)? How will you measure the success of all or parts of the campaign? What is the budget, how do you split the budget between different components of the campaign?
It's not a complete list nor structured properly but there should be some ideas for a start.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
Thanks for that list RedPete. Those are exactly the sort of things I was looking for. I am reassured my presentation is along the right lines now!
Thanks again0 -
Whenever I have had to do presentation I have always been paranoid abou the technology letting me down. I would ask them beforehand how they want you to present, e.g. do they want it in Powerpoint? Take the presentation with you on two different memory sticks, in case one lets you down. Also take paper copies of your presentation to hand out if the technology fails you - it wont be wasted effort, as you can always give these out at the end of the presentation. You will need to know how many people you are presenting to to know how many copies you need. When doing the presentation, make sure you check with the company that you can use their logo, as some are very particular about that.
