Sofa / dining table shop similar to Ikea?

Hey all,
Just wondering if there were any sofa shops which are similar to Ikea - i.e. where they have stock in store and you can take it away. We've just had a worrying phone call from Homebase saying that due to a supplier issue our sofa which has been on order for 28 days today is delayed for 37 days (!!!)
We're due to complete on a new flat on friday / monday so ideally we'd like to get the sofa [and the table and chairs / mattress] we had on order with homebase somewhere ourselves while we have a van and cancel the whole order to teach them a lesson, so to speak.
The only thing is that we're not too keen on Ikea's sofas - so i'm just wondering if there's anywhere similar where you can turn up and buy a sofa to take home that day
[rules DFS et al out mehtinks?]
Cheers,
Mark.

Have you tried argos, they share a lot of the same stock with Homebase, not sure if from same warehouse but worth a look?0

Hubby and I struggled to find "in store" furniture when we recently moved. We ended up buying our sofa from Barker and Stonehouse (next day delivery) and our dining table from an independent store. I was surprised (shocked) to discover that all of the big furniture stores expect you to pay your money up front then wait for weeks (or months) for delivery. However, the big stores sometimes have a few "ex-display" items available for immediate purchase.0
