anybody got any idea of who's offering the best deal for buying euros on the high street please? I'll only be buying about £200 worth. I've tried googling but don't know a comparison site and keep getting out of date info thanks

M&S used to have the best exchange rate you would need to check their web site for current rate.....0

In all honesty - for about £200 worth, there won't be a huge difference in what you will get with a small variation in the rate (if that makes sense?) Perhaps that goes against the spirit of this site - but if it were me I would just nip somewhere convenient providing the rate wasn't hugely uncompetitive.
Personally I've always found that the post office offer reasonable rates - but buy with cash if you can as some providers will make a charge even on a debit card for buying currency.0 -
For that relatively small amount the difference will be absolute pence so i wouldnt waste any more time. I bought mine commission free from the post office, no hassle and paid with my debit card. You must remember to take your passport with you if you are not paying cash.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Are post offices open tomorrow, its a Bank Holiday...0

I've just come back from the South of France and used my Nationwide debit card to withdraw cash, and I got the best exchange rate - around 1.13! I got some euros from an exchange place (sorry can't remember the name) at 1.08 before I left - shockingly the airport was only offering .99 to the pound! :eek:0

There isn't a comparison site - it would be huge as each branch in each town can potentially have a different rate. What you find online is for online purchase - generally cheaper assuming there's no delivery charge. There's no substitute to wandering around your local High Street looking.
Post Offices will be closed tomorrow, as will banks. Travel Agents will probably be open, possibly reduced hours.
Last Friday I found Thos Cook and Thomson at 1.09 something, the PO at 1.07 or so and landed up in the cheque shop at 1.10 something. That's roughly €6 difference if you find the same sort of thing. Up to you if it's worth 15 minutes of your time0 -

Either Travelex.co.uk or First Choice offer the best rates.0

Thomas cook have the promotion on at the moment that if their rate is worse than the post office they'll give you double the difference back and if you have booked your holiday with them they'll give you 1% cashback. Their rate saturday was 1.10 but that was for over £500 about 1.055 for less but most of the TC shops would probably do it at the 1.10 sooner than let you walk as they do pricematch other shops in the area if they are better.0
