Help in ringing a UK landline from the UK using Skype please

I'd be grateful for some help please, I'm just going round in circles and getting more and more confused.
I'm going to America in a few days and would like to use Skype from the hotel I'm staying in (there is free high speed internet in the rooms), to call my Grandmother's landline in the UK.
I realise I can either buy a subscription package or pay as I go but does anyone know if my Grandmother would be charged to accept the call please?
Or is it as cheap as the 1.5p per minute (or similar) plus a 5p connection charge?
I can't find a firm answer anywhere.
Thankyou very much xx

Edit: Argh, I'm an idiot, the title is meant to read "Help in ringing a UK landline from the US using Skype please"

Your Grandmother would not be charged to receive the call.

You could look at Vyke (www.vyke.com) as they charge just 2.1p per entire call to UK landlines, not per minute. (That is zero pence per minute, and the 2.1p connection charge). They give you 50p calling credit to test the service, I've been using them for quite a while along with other VoIP providers.

Skype is one of the dearer VoIP providers when it comes to calling regular numbers.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)

Search Google.com for 'cheap international calls'.
There are websites which give a number to call and they only charge a modest few pence per minute i24-14.jpg

No worries, notice it is now 2.1p for an hour, previously was for as long as you liked. Still 2.1p per hour is pretty good!

have a look at the betamax VoIP re-sellers. There is a table of their prices somewhere on the net.. I use a betamax reseller called http://webcalldirect.com They were the very cheapest the last time I looked. they are german and their tariffs are priced in euros so perhaps they are not so cheap since the pound collapsed? definitely loads cheaper than skype..

edit: here is one tariff table for the betamax providers... http://backsla.sh/betamax
the owner says the table is updated automatically on a daily basis...

WebcallDirect offers free VoIP calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles are charged at 5.4p/minute at all times.
