Natwest - Notice of Bank Charges

I have just received a letter I am to be charged a £30 Referral Fee and having spoken to customer Services I am goign to be charged £28 too on top of this. For going overdrawn unauthorised recently.

I have never been overdrawn and this was a mistake becasue my standing order credits my account on the 3th and everything goes out on the 5th. But becasue of the bank holiday and the dates falling over a weekend my funds did not hit the account until the 6th of May.

Do I have to go through all the hoops of reclaiming unfair bank charges or should the local branch manager be able to waive these as a gesture of good will seeing as this is a genuine mistake and I have never been overdrawn before ?

Seems a tad harsh to me.

If you have a good history with the bank and have been with them a long time, they can overlook the charge and repay it back immediately. They did this with my dad. But he did say he would leave if they didn't give it back asap.

If they don't you will have to go through the rigmarole of the claim system.
