Hopscotch; lots of colourful blankets as picnic rugs (maybe with cheap cushions/pillows as on hard ground).. and I've run out of ideas!
I'll come back if I think of anything. :)
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)
  • ooo the cushions on the ground remind me of a cbeebies prog that i watched today (metoo) she had them laid out in a circle and they were the islands and they had to jump onto the pillows (islands) as there were sharks in the middle.. my nephew thought it was hilarious to pull his mums silk pillow covers from the cupboard and copy what she did - doh.... but it seemed a good little novelty game...

how about having bean bags? little paddling pool if its warm...and if you think it would be safe i.e. enough adults to supervise.

if i think of anything else i'll be back :)

Ok, borrow as much old china as you possibly can alongside a cake slice, cake stands etc. Put tiny sandwiches with no crusts out on said stands.

Ginger beer goes without saying. Old style lemonade, which you could make. You could make the GB too but be careful, it ferments.

Cake, like fruit cake etc for the stands.

Games get some rope & wooden pegs. Cut rope in half and make up two teams, the first ones to queue up and peg all of their pegs on the line which is being held by two adults, then queue up and unpeg are the winners.

Hire a giant connect 4/quoites (sp)

Decorating table covered in flowery shoite (I shouldn't call it that really as I love it) , look in charity shop for old fashioned duvet cover and cut into a table cloth. Bunting obviously. Also hay bales would be good for sitting on.

Instead of borrowing china, you could buy old plates from the charity shop, mine do them for 10p.

    They also do doillies.
