Please can someone clarify a basic will query for me.

Specific gifts and legacies come first, followed by the residue.

Then, there is the usual wording regarding if 'X pre-deceases me by 28 days' then XYZ takes effect.

Should this happen ie X has died, then am I correct that the originally specified gifts and legacies are still valid and that there is no need to repeat them within the wording of XYZ. In other words that this clause only relates to the residue element.

if yr specific gifts are in a seperate clause and your 'if X predeceases me bit is in the residue clause only then it will only take effect for the residue not the specific gifts part so u just say what u want to happen to the residue should X predecease u

As Shykins says, it depends how it's written.

I would suggest that, unless you do more research to improve your understanding of the subject, you would do better paying £50 or so to a professional will writer rather than making potentially expensive mistakes in critical matters of wording.
