bid canceled, account suspended

I wanted to buy something on ebay. It was a one time thing, so I created an account just to buy it. It was a buy it now item, so I placed the bid and paid for it via paypal. The next day, I got an email from ebay saying that my bid had been canceled, and that my account was suspended indefinitely. I figured since my item was canceled that I wouldn't get charged for it. I still needed the item, so I bought it via a guest account and paid for it with paypal. After I paid for it, I go to my paypal accounts summary, and see that the last item I paid for was there, in addition to this one. This means that I had paid for 2 of the same thing. I tried to contact the seller to cancel but he had already sent it. I ended up receiving 2 of the same thing. I tried to contact ebay but all I got was generic responses. I don't know if anyone had ever come into this situation, but it's a big problem. I don't use ebay anymore because I don't think I can trust them if they can just suspend my account and cancel my bids, and stilll charge me for it. At least when you buy from a "real" website, when your order is canceled, you usually get a refund.

go onto the ebay.com site (not the .co.uk site) and look around for the live online help system which lets you 'chat' live to an ebay representative. if you search on google for 'ebay live help' I'm sure you'll find the link.

Maybe you're creating numerous accounts linked to the same PayPal/CC and eBay is finding these and suspending them?

That isn't agains the rules though is it, not even for guest accounts.

I'd also like to know why buyer was suspended though, sounds a bit odd.

I assumed that if they canceled my bid that paypal would refund me my money, or not charge it at all since it was done so quickly. They never gave a reason why my account was suspended. I just got a generic email from ebay. I won't relist the item because it really isn't worth it. Besides, it broke 2 weeks later.

Why didn't you check your paypal account before you purchased the second one?

Ebay may have suspended your account, but the money had already gone from your Paypal account to the sellers.

Did they tell you why your account was suspended?

I think you will need to relist one of them ,if you have access ti a working Ebay account, or return it for a refund (if you purchased it from a business seller).

I am not a frequent ebay buyer. The last time I bought something from ebay was 1 year ago. I have had bad experiences from ebay, so I try not to buy anything on there, unless I can't find it locally. This time I had bought an adapter to make an internal hard drive into external. The local shops never even heard of such an item.

You as a buyer were suspended for buying an item from a listing that was still subsequently available to buy from. What on earth were you suspended for?

Ebay's automated security systems are very inefficient, i was once hit with a 7 day suspension and made to fax back a signed a declaration that nothing i was selling was counterfeit and that i promised never to sell counterfeit items on ebay during a period where i didn't even have anything listed for sale.

That's just part of the joys of ebaying, their attitude is, use our site accept our rules, accept our crappy automated systems, accept our mistakes, accept unfair treatment, and don't complain.

They make billions of pounds a year yet are only just considering a customer service phone line after 10 years of being one of of the biggest earning companies in the world, certainly online. What does that tell you about their commitment to customer service.............they don't have any.

The fact that they are considering a customer service phone line is a massive step. Honestly, I don't know that it will actually solve much of the issues people can have with ebay and it's going to be a huge overhead (the money for which will come from the users) but let's hope that it does offer some improvements.
