I'm DEAD!!!!!

Had a life assurance policy with an endowment which matured at the beginning of March so was waiting for the letter to arrive for me to get the lovely cheque!

So I waited....

And waited....

Then I decided to call the insurance company

Operator 'Can I take your name?'

Me: Zincoxide (well my real name)

Op: DOB?

Me: Blah of Blah 19 Blah-dy Blah

Op: Home Address?

Me: Blah, Blah, Blah

Op: (cough) Erm...just a minute while I check something, are you alright to hold?

Me: Sure.......

So I wait....

Op: Erm... We get a screen here that shows us the status of your policy and it shows you are...well....um....deceased

Me: Oh...? How did I die?

So, it eventually turns out that someone, somewhere has pressed the wrong button and wiped me off the face of the earth...

Today has been great - knowing your dead you don't worry about anything anymore!!

Anyways back to the phone conversation:

Me: So, what happens now?

Op: I'll sort this out with the maturities dept and you'll have a letter sent out in the next few days

Me: Who reported me dead?

Op: The screen doesn't tell me that...

Me: Does it tell you how I died?

Op: Oh it was tragic (laughing)

Me: Always thought I'd go young but didn't think I'd be able to attend my own funeral!!

So, now that I'm dead...what should I do?

I'm really sorry but that is really funny.

    Oh, i'm glad you're not dead :D
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

Hmmm.. very strange!! At my place it would be noted.. but you would have to have a death certificate as evidence!!!

    Got to wondering that myself!!

Just hoping they don't make any impact on my credit file!!

I'm thinking now that I'm dead that I should live each day like it's the one after my last!

If its an old policy, chances are that it wasnt on computer originally at the call centre level. Or it was on a computer but had to moved manually to a newer one. Old insurance company computers are awful (by todays standards) and prone to human error. I have seen similar things to this before and its surprising how often one small human error on input can create a cascade of problems.

Still, you arent doing bad for zombie.
