Wrong info on credit file
2002 had a loan with Tesco and due to difficulties went on a payment plan. All this is ok on my credit report but then i have a default in April 2003 and its settled in May 2003 (Dad bailed me out at the time).
Now the account shows as 5k outstanding on it still? Is it worth trying to get this changed or will this of dropped of as its 6 years old? Will lenders still see it after 6 years?

Should drop off this month so i wouldn't worry about it. Perhaps worthwhile getting a copy of your credit reports to check. If the default date is later adn it still has some time left, then a simple phonecall or letter asking them to updaate the credit reference agencies should suffice.Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!
Another 3% shaved off 10/12/08

So even though i can still see it, lenders will not after 6 years?
By the end of the year everything before 2004 will be gone? I hope so because that only leaves me with one default and 4-5 overdue payment markers. How bad will these affect my rating?
The default is with HSBC and was when my finances were bad and they withdrew my overdraft which i defaulted on for £91
My 4-5 overdue payments were from a contract phone, will these look really bad?
The good thing is i have credit now (with high interest) and thats all up to date so i have lots of little green zeros for them and my two current accounts.0 -

The whole point of the six-year rule is that, after that time, no one can see them. At least, that's what I've experiencedHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
