Hi, I contacted my mortgage company last week to enquire about better rates as our fixed rate ends this month and after giving me the quotes, they said they'd send them in the post.
I received details this morning - my cover letter with someone else's quotation. My quote wasn't there so presumably it's been sent to someone else. I take so much care about shredding all my personal details, I am horrified that the BS could have sent them out to anyone!
I telephoned the BS and after being transferred 3 times, got through to the customer services manager. She said she'd investigate. 10 minutes later I get a phone call from their mortgage dept asking me to shred the other person's quote and promising that they will send a new quote out to me today. I can't believe that they're so blase about it. I have telephoned the data protection people as clearly this is a breech of data confidentiality but they're powerless to do anything.
Any advice? I am so cross about this but am I over reacting to this blunder?

It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

In a word.
No.

Good Luck!I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far! :mad:0
