Turning The Corner - Health & Debt Wise

Hello everyone!
I don't mind admitting that I'm ashamed of my debt - as everyone is
I was managing fantastically (she says, ignoring the fact she was paying off debts with other debts  ) before but my ill health has made everything plummet down to make me stop working and concentrate on getting better (physically 'do this or die before you're 30
not a nice thing to hear with just 6 years to go) stop working and sign to income support.
That, coupled with a crazy amounts of phone calls per day and varying abusive agents has forced a LBM with just under 10,500 debt.
So, after being reduced to tears by barclaycard threatening doorstop collections for money I really don't have and being very abusive, I hung up and spoke to CCCS, explained everything, gave all details and got the details to report them too.
And now I'm waiting till the 2nd june for a counsellor to call me back to talk and take me through to a DRO application which I've not heard a lot of experiences about - so please let me know if you know anything!
So now I just have to answer the phone, give reference number, make a token payment offer and tell them I'm being considered for a DRO.
Hopefully it'll make things easier! Here goes nothing!
Hope you're all well!

Well I never! I actually do feel more possitive since talking to CCCS.
I've answered the calls, let them do their security checks before giving my reference number and telling them I'm being considered for a DRO instead of hiding from them - having said that, 2 of them I did ignore because they were between 8 and 9am (on a saturday!!!) and had just woke me up with no chance of getting to the phone in time, and another 1 I was in the shower for and 1 I missed because I was eating and they hung up before I could get to the phone  (Though they'll have rung back since).
So that's 5 all sygma today, and capital one last night. Thankfully the calls have slowed down massively - cos I've managed to answer them!! - and things are picking up moodwise as well as everything else. They're a lot friendlier than they have been lately too!
And today, 4 token payments made, 1 to argos, 1 to barclaycard (grr!), one to choice and another to capital one.
There may be a way through this after all!Homer: Don't you worry about Wikipedia. We'll change it when we get home.

Thanks very much
Was so nice not to have the calls continue through the day - I think the last one I received was about 1pmish - usually they go on till 9 at night when the call centers close.Homer: Don't you worry about Wikipedia. We'll change it when we get home.

2 calls today and I haven't answered either of them - not good! First I was coming down the stairs and didn't get to it in time and second I was knee deep in html installing a new forum (XMB - very impressive free mysql using forum!) for someone.
I wish they'd leave messages - or at least not cut off the second the answerphone cuts in - stupid computer gen calls!Homer: Don't you worry about Wikipedia. We'll change it when we get home.

Maybe not quite the nice day I expected... microwave has just exploded - 10 minutes before the shops shut! Have to beg borrow or steal takeaway tonight as it leaves us with just the kettle to cook with otherwise!
Damn bloody builders! If the electrician had come this week we'd have the house back to ourselves now! Now we're all but done aside from the last 2 downstairs room, 3 upstairs and room and the loft to be rewired grant wise - but it means no bloody electricity in any other room than the front bedroom and front living room!Homer: Don't you worry about Wikipedia. Thanks to lovely big brother giving me the money for a microwave - that is sorted - otherwise goodness knows what I'd do!
Note from the electrician through the door too - he'll be here as of 10 tomorrow so we get a little lie in then too and with only one phonecall (so far) today, it's shaping up a good dayHomer: Don't you worry about Wikipedia. We'll change it when we get home.

There are template letters on here to stop the phone calls, from one company bad enough but when you get a few it is intolerable.
Some letters you may find useful http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=963087
and on here

Have a good read.
And welcome to diary land.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Thank you so much, it's much appreciated
Thankfully now they have tailed off now I've spoken to them, given my CCCS reference number and explained I'm being considered for a DRO - I was a whimp before and was scared of talking to the people as the few I'd spoken too were really horrible and I buried my head in the sand which never helped and I rang National debtline and spoke to them - whilst they were lovely and sent me information I didn't feel as though I was getting anywhere - so after another abusiive call I rang CCCS and suddenly whambamthankyouma'am! One over-the-phone budget filled in and they sorted the rest. They really are amazing
Thanks again!Homer: Don't you worry about Wikipedia. We'll change it when we get home.
