Fixed term contract

I have a fixed term contract that end at the beginning of March 2010. I am now pregnant and baby is due in december 2009. I have been working for that employer for over 1 year. Does anyone know if I will be entitled to maternity leave? If so, let's say I start the maternity leave in december for 6 or 9 months, will the contract be then extended for further 2 months once maternity leave finishes?
