Going to college full time-what help can I get?

Hi guys
I have decided to return to college in September to do a catering and hospitality course.
I have previously studied an AS Level in Film studies and not sure whether I will be able to get the course free or not. I have been told I need to apply to the Learner Support Fund if I can't get it free other ways.
I was wondering if my partner and I would be entitled to housing benefit. I have looked into council housing/housing associations but that is pretty much impossible in our town, there is a big waiting list.
My partner works full time and earns about £11,500.
I am not currently working but hope to get part time work whilst at college.
We are living at my parents at the moment but they don't want us here for the next 2 years, it is only a temporary fix.
Will my partner and I be eligible for housing benefit? We have rented privately previously but won't be able to afford that if I am back at college.
Just looking for some general advice as to what we'd be entitled to.
Thanks everyone

A lot will depend on the course type. Full time students do not normally qualify for HB as there are student loans/funds available and are counted against means tested benefits. Not sure what happens if you are a couple and one works0

If the course is at Level 2 and you don't already have a qualification at this level (NVQ2/ GCSEs grade C) then you shouldn't have to pay fees. Your AS Film Studies doesn't come into it. In this situation, if you're studying full time you should be able to get £30 per week Adult Learners Grant.
You may be eligible for some LHA/CTB on the grounds of a low income. Grants and Loans only come into it for study at level 4 (degree level).0 -
Okay, thanks for the info. Will look into it all.
