2nd job tax - how much is it?

Hi sorry, thick question and I should already know this but do you get taxed 22% on a second job or 20%? I thought it was 22 but someone has told me today its 20%...............thanks

It's taxed as though it were the top band of your income - which it is- so at the highest rate that you get taxed.0

Taken over the whole year, the amount of income tax you pay is dependent on how much your total earnings are, not on how many jobs you have. You get your tax allowances throughout the year on your main job. Your other employers will then tax you on all your earnings with them at the basic rate i.e. 20%.
At the end of the year the Inland Revenue will check your total earnings and how much tax in total you should have paid, and then make any adjustments if needed. All the rates and allowances for this year can be found on the Inland Revenue web site -click on " individuals and employees", "tell me about - more topics", then income tax. Sorry, as a new user I'm not allowed to post a link. I'm not any sort of advisor, and I don't have specialist knowledge. I just employ people who have their main jobs elsewhere so I have to know what tax to deduct.0
