How do I go about reporting a swimming pool?

My dd has swimming lessons at a local swimming pool and the quality of care is getting poorer by the week. I have finally decided to report them but don't know how to/ or where to go to do this.

The first major issue is the number of kids in the pool at one time; my daughter's class is 12+ this term and she is only just swimming. Even though there are staff around the pool area; several are just standing around chatting. The kids are just told to swim back and forth, the staff never engage with them, and don't even communicate with them properly.

The second issue is that the facilities are dirty and sometimes smell to the level that the smell lingers on your clothes (it smells of dirty nappies!).
The leisure centre is run by the local authority....do I report it to them or can I go to the asa???

I would report them but wouldn't know how?

Maybe give the local paper a ring?

If it's a council pool I would report it to your local council office.

Go to the council, or straight to the manager
  • Definitely contact the local council regarding this and even if it isnt anything to do with them they should be able to help you report it to the relevant people.

Ring the pool tomorrow during the day & ask to speak to the swimming coordinator. If they don't have one then ask for the Head of Leisure. If you don't get to speak to them, leave a message (vital to give them an opportunity to respond) call back on Friday and if you are not happy with their response then speak to your local Councillor (look on your Council website).

If you're worried about hygiene then maybe give the local EHO a call? They might not be able to help but they might be able to point you in the direction of the relevant H&S bods - I'd imagine that there are quite strict rules regarding cleanliness etc for swimming pools.

If its that bad why do you still send your child there? Raise your concerns with a manger or as previous people have suggested contact your local council.

As I pointed out it has got steadily worse over time.
Parents/guardians are also required to pay for a term upfront, so I am reluctant to walk away from forty quid!
Also there are very few swimming pools in this area . I live by a river, my parents live by the sea and so it is essential my kids learn to swim.

If I had a choice believe me I would get out of there!
