in Water bills
We moved into a property in May 08 and we have never had a water meter before. I pay by DD, and we pay £60 a month to pay off our bill of £200 for 6 months in 08, plus paying towards the bill in July 09, and I called through a reading today and we had a read of 0116 in dec, and today it read 0165. Is 49 units in 4 months ok? The woman on the phone at Severn Trent was really unhelpful, rather than look up some figures, maybe for the average use for our household size, she just said "sorry I have no idea I dont have a water meter", great, dead helpful that! Anyone any ideas?
4 bed house, 4 adults, dont use bath, about 15 showers a week of about 10 mins between us, washing machine on 30 min/1 hour cycles for about 6 times a week max, hosepipe used to rinse off 2 motorbikes once a week or so for 5 mins max.

Use it to calculate how much water you use.
49 units comes to about £110 to £120 worth of water ( ballpark figure ) so for a four month bill that is about right for 4 adults.Helping people lower there water usage and water bills

49 units in 4 months for 4 adults is 'about right'?
That equates to 147 cubic metres a year.
Given ofwat say that 60 units per person, per year, is average - as do all the water companies - 4 people will on average use 240 units - so 147 is well below average.
P.S.
As you are apologising for a Severn Trent employee, may we assume that you work for the company?0 -
True it is a little low but as the reading was supplied by the customer and would equate to a yearly bill of between £330 and £380 it does fit within the usage of 4 people.P.S.

Oops Yes guilty as charged.
Just a lowly call center agent.
I find it very frustraiting when i see that some numptee has just palmed someone off instead of helping them.
All it means is that the customer has to call back and spend more time on the phone ( usualy very angry ) and someone else has to take the abuse.
