18 yr old student thrown out of home.

My 18 year old neice is a student atm and my brother has given her just a week to find somewhere. I feel really sorry for her because shes such a hard worker compared to his other children and doesn't get treated as well as they do. Shes studying hairdressing and leaves in summer but she's also working, if shes not at college then shes working so i don't know the exact hours she works but i'd say a minimum of 20. She works in a pub so i'm thinking its gonna be minimum wage and she also receives the Ema atm. Would she still qualify for IS like students used to? Or would she be expected to live on her wage alone i tried to use entitledto and juggle the figures around but the figures stay the same if shes entitled to IS or not. I'm also guessing at her rent because her first stop on monday is the LHA but if they struggle to find her somewhere she's considering houseshare. Is there anything else i can be doing or something else she should apply for??
Any help or advice is greatly received.

I don't think the LHA which find her somewhere to live, that will be up to her, they would expect her to go for a house share anyway because of her age and Local Housing Allowance she is entitled to will be based on that rate. Students cannot claim Income Support anymore, if she was under 18 then she might have been entitled to claim something for being an independant minor.
Can you not take her in? I hope she manages ok on her own, sounds like she will be better off on her own than with her family"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

Tbh i'd love to be able to take her in but i have 3 children myself well 4 if you count dh and it wouldn't be very practical. So is it pointless applying for a LHA flat or still worth a try? She's already looking into houseshare aswell.0 -
She needs a letter from the people who threw her out and there reasons why, take it to local council housing and tell them she has nowhere to go, and noone to turn to, they may give her something, but i dont think it is how it used to be, but worth a try0

I think you're confusing local authority housing with LHA (previously HB). In most areas she won't have a hope of being offered council accommodation or a great deal of help. She needs to be looking for a cheap flat share that she can afford out of her earnings when she finishes college.0

Erm ok thanks for that. Is there a reason why they wouldn't offer her accommodation? Just because i know of people late teens early twenties who have been given housing association houses not sure of their circumstances though.0

She wouldnt be a priority to the local authority, so they wouldnt house her.
They may find her a hostel place for a few weeks but thats about it.

If every teenager who left home, whether voluntarily or not, was given a council house, there wouldn't be a blade of grass left in the country!0
