Hi I didnt know where else to post so as I am desperate for advice thought I better try here first

scenario is I am working in the car industry in a factory making fuel injectors-we are currently in deep trouble-tbh not sure if closure is imminent? Has something to do with general motors and we are already in whats called chapter 11.

However I will get to the point,we have been offered a seperation deal of 12 weeks pay without paying any tax and all hours that we owe (about £900) wiped off slate (we owe from previous downtime when they paid us) so thats about nearly 6K. I have a job interview next Friday within the Mental Health sector for a well known nationwide charity whcih will be secure as can be. This pays £200 less a month but less hours (30 as opposed to 37) and requires two sleep-ins a week which is fine depending on childcare but I will get to that in a minute.

If I dont take the interview and stay where I am and place goes bust (looking towads that way) myself and my husband who also works there will be out of a job.
My DH has worked there 21 years and knows nothing else where-as I am trained in Mental Health. We both work shifts currently a 6-2, 2-10 rota opposite each other,so child care is not an issue, out children are 9 and 2 respectively.

My dilemia is: take money and run, there is a chance I wont get the seperation as managers and staff get precidence as shop floor they reckon is not main priority to lose  but given situation we are in I find this weird also. I have been in this place of work for 11 years now and am panicking that if I do leave and business picks up I am going to be what the hell have I done? And regret like mad as pay is excellent for area, work is easy, lovely work mates and managers and health care and pension whereas new job lots of stress and away from children 24 hours at a time.

Sorry if doesnt make sense and am rambling,I have no one to discuss this with who isnt involved!

Thanks Bexs.xx

I wouldn't say jobs with charities were necessarily secure these days: many are making staff redundant.

Having said that, if you can get a job elsewhere, I would be tempted, and treat your husband's decision as a separate issue.

    Hi just an update

My husband said I could go for it-BUT I have decided to do the job on a Saturday which is a fair sum a month even with double-tax deducted.

This way my foot is in the door if my company goes under but I love woring there so much i dont want to run away and then find things pick right up which in 2010 if we can last that long they will do as the cleaner ommisions law is coming in and only we have the capability in our area of work to do it.

Thanks for you reply was nice of you to reply.
