Alternative presents for mums

I was planning on getting large bouquets to give to our mums at our reception, but got thinking that, as our venue is 80 miles away, by the time they got them home the flowers could look rather the worse for wear.
So trying to think of something else that would make a ncie gift and convey our thanks for everything.
Any ideas? What's everyone else planning on getting?

Im a little confused by this. My OH's parents are divorced and his mum remarried, so to save some awkwardness his grandparents are sitting at the top table. His mum lives miles away so wont really be helping out much, Do I still need to get her a present? Will it be considered exceptionally rude if I dont? My mum knows were trying to keep costs down and doesnt mind not getting a present.
I was thinking of getting his grandma a little present to say thanks but now Im not sure what to do?0 -
I would just get some bunches of flowers out of kidness, maybe a thank you for being there etc. However as I am getting married abroad do I need to do this??
I am getting FI mum some things to open on the day of the wedding so she can feel part of it, got her a tote bag with mother of the groom Vegas 09 and a braclet and a flower ( fake one) but in our wedding colours and I am going to get some flowers sent to her on the day. I have got my own mum just the tote I know she wont mind, not got my Dad anything though, should I?

I haven't bothered with the Dads tbh, just the mums, I thought they were the traditional ones to buy gifts for.
And they haven't exactly helped out much anyway lolCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. That's very true, but if we all bought for everyone it would be more like Christmas than a wedding. :rotfl:
Trying to think of costs as well - no point having a wedding budget for us, then blowing it on other people.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. How about just getting token gifts for people along with heartfelt thanks?
To me the flowers are a token anyway - it is just that they are an expensive token and sometimes difficult for the receivers to take back from the wedding!
how about a homemade gift like coconut ice (see the threads on the special occasions board) or a hamper. Alternatively how about a bottle of wine or make a joke in the speech about how they would appreciate a large glass of wine more than flowers and have the barstaff bring them a large drink!!!0 -
We are getting married on Saturday and I've just finished wrapping up all the presents for everyone. We have ordered flowers for our mums but also one of these photo frames each so they have something that will last

Bought the Dads some nice engraved gifts from eBay.
Let's hope they like them!!0
