Credit Crunch Hair, Blonde to Brunette....

Yup I've also gone brown/auburn from blonde highlights. I did love the blonde but can't seem to get the cost lower than £60 in Manchester and that's just a ridiculous amount of money when you can get DIY dye for less than £5.

Has anyone else noticed that your hair seems to look greasier when darker? I feel like I have to wash it more as it looks greasy as opposed to 'shiny' when I had the highlights...or is it just me???

Agree my hair always looks greasier when its darker. I went brunette again last year after years of blonde highlights which I loved.

I tried to do my own highlights with those kitsyou get and they turned ORANGE!!! Bright ORANGE! It was awful I had to wear a cap.

I am now better at budgeting (lots of practice over the last year) and am having my first set of highlights put in next week. I will see how long I can maintain it but I know if it comes to it I will be comfortable going dark again.

Oh I'd never do home highlights - just meant an all over brown/auburn DIY. God I dread to think what mess i'd make with home highlights.

Brown dye does make a complete mess of the bathroom though - I always think it's clean only to walk back in 20 mins later to brown dye spots EVERYWHERE!!!
