Hi can anyone advise me please, I got a letter from the dss about a month ago to tell me my sickness benefit was increasing in april. I just had a letter from the bank today to say I am overdrawn as the dss has not paid my sick in last tuesday.
They have not sent me anything any letters to say why or anything to fill in can this just be a mistake, does anyone know if they ever do this?
Im sorry if sound hysterical but on top of my disability I am going through a bit at the moment a close family member just died and I feel like my life is coming to an end, Im sorry for moaning I just dont know what I have to do. the offices are shut until next tuesday and even then I dont know what I have to do or say to anyone about this, I get so worked up on the phone though perhaps they just forgot or didnt tick a box they should have, any advice or a pointer in the right direction would really be appreciated, thanks for listening God bless......louy

Do you still have to send in sick notes? Could it be your sick note needs renewing? Have they asked you to go for a chat with an adviser at the Job Centre about Pathways to work? have you forgotten?
There used to be a little known about "Out of Hours Service." When the DWP office is shut, you have no money and are desperate, contact the police, make a fuss and they should have a number to contact DWP, and get someone to visit you/ take a statement & possibly pay a small amount to tide you over to the next working day when you can contact DWP directly to sort out normal benefit. Not sure if it still exists- I'm 4-5 years out of date on these things- but possibly worth a try over the Bank Holiday. Otherwise, if known to Social services, you could try them?
Hope this helps.0 -
