I am claiming housing benefit and recieving £85 per week. Now my problem is that I first claimed at the end of January my first cheque was for £255 and not £360 as it should be that was in March, I had the 2nd Cheque today for £360, now does anyone know why the only paid £255 first off and why was it in March. The coucil keep saying its because they always pay in arrears, now my landlord wants me ( who is only recieving £45 a week with a girlfriend and child in house) to pay the difference.
Any help guys? Thanks

They do pay it in arrears and you should have received a letter as well stating when your entitlement started from. It sounds like they have only paid you for about 3 weeks in feb as you are £105 short.
I would check the letter that you got for the dates.I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.

Straying off the topic, I know, but....why would you only have £45 pw income if you are part of a couple with a child?
And I don't quite understand why you'd be getting 4wkly cycle payments of £360 if your HB/LHA is £85 pw.0 -
did you have to miss a weeks money when swapping over from housing benefit to lha? i know i did0
