Travel insurance?!

Hiya,
I'm seriously thinking of taking out annual travel insurance for myself and my boyfriend. I'm unsure as to what to do though, I'm due to be going to china on a trip, the insurance for which was only £20 or so cheaper than the annual policy, which has got me thinking!
The only problem or query that I have is the limits of the cover, I know every policy is different, but if I am to take out a annual policy, would I be covered when I am travelling for both business and pleasure? or would I have to take out separate policies on top of my annual policy when I travel on business? Also In general, do annual policies cover when you are travelling within the Uk, e.g. if you are on a train and your bag get's pinched?
I would really appreciate any advice anyone would have on the above questions and any cheaper insurance providers they know of?!
thanks in advance!

Most travel policies will treat business travel as separate from personal/pleasure travel. Check the terms of the policy you're applying before, but most likely there'll be a box to tick somewhere asking if you want to be covered for business
Not overly sure about the UK travelling question to be honest. My inkling is that yes you are covered, as you are on a train, but to be honest you'd best speak to your insurer about it
As for "who?" then there's a lot of choice out there
Martin has a post on it here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1083570446,24889,
I've had experience of the following and found them to be pretty good - Direct Line, Insure&Go, Egg, Lloyds TSB
Or try MoneySupermarket, who will search a load of different insurers for you http://www.moneysupermarket.com/travelinsurance/?Source=MS
Failing all that, type "Travel Insurance" into Google!!0 -
travel policies normally only cover you in the UK if you have prebooked a certain number of nights away from home - like 2 nights i think - or sometimes if your a certain distance away. as you say all are different, you'd need to check. broadly i'd say no - you wouldnt be covered.if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0

but if I am to take out a annual policy, would I be covered when I am travelling for both business and pleasure?
Usually no.
If you are employed then your employer should provide insurance for business travel. Have you checked with them?
Obviously if you are self-employed then it's down to you. Also In general, do annual policies cover when you are travelling within the Uk, e.g. if you are on a train and your bag get's pinched?
For being on holiday - yes.
For just a train trip - no.
You would have to check the policy for the exact definition.
Mine says "Air Travel within the UK involving an overnight stay".
You may well find that a bag on a train is covered by the "personal possessions" cover on your house insurance.
If you have this then try to get a travel prolicy that excludes it otherwise you will insured twice.
This is bad because firstly you have to pay for it twice but even worse it causes all sorts of arguments about who pays when you come to claim.0
