Income support and studying

Does anyone know what the rules are for adults on income support who want to study. I have been offered the chance to do a funded course through YMCA Training to gain NVQ in childcare and education. I would be working as a volunteer in a primary school to gain work experience whilst getting qualified. How might this be viewed?

Any information greatly appreciated.

Are you on IS because you're a lone parent? If so, there's no restictions on what you study or on any voluntary work you do. In fact, in this situation you can do pretty well most courses for free at your local college.

In fact, your Lone Parent Adviser is likely to be really pleased as s/he will see that you are making positive steps to come off benefits.
    Good luck with the course.
