I Didnt Get Taxed Last Mt

I started a new job in my local hospital as i Pharmacy Technical Technician for 20 hrs per wk well i didnt get taxed and i am just over the bracket to get taxed. In my pervious job i only worked 5 hrs per wk and didnt get taxed at all, so would this be the reason why i didnt this mth if so when would i be getting taxed ? I earn a mth £547 Thankyou

    Yes, you have not paid tax as you have not yet reached your tax threshold for this year.

    Hello livelyred,

    I am assuming £547 is your gross pay. If it is and is unlikely to change over the next tax year I have done the following calculation;
    £547 x 12 (tax months/tax year) = £6564
    £6564 - £6475 (09/10 tax allowance) = £89 (taxable amount for the year)
    £89 / 12 (tax months/tax year) = £7.41 (amount of tax you will pay each month from April 2009).
    I have NOT accounted for National Insurance.
