Reclaiming Tax

Hi all,
well here goes,
I was made redundant in December 2008 from my part time job.
In the January I received my final salary payment(for work done in December) but it was incorrect so I contacted HO who checked my pay and agreed that it was done by about £100.
So they told me they would pay me this underpayment which i duly received however this new payment of £100 was subject to income tax of about £20.
I then received redundancy pay which was also taxed.
My tax code was 603L and my P45 shows my total earnings of around £4,500.
Therefore how do I go about reclaiming this tax?
Any help would be great.
thanks.

Call your local tax office and ask over the phone - sometimes they can sort it over the phone - sometimes you may have to pop in.

Have your payslip in question and any p45/p60 with you when you call or visit.
Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!
  • thanks for that, I'l get on it!!

You can only claim if you are not claiming JSA. Download a form P50 from www.hmrc.gov.uk and fill it in - send it with yur P45 to your tax office. You wont get a P60 for this year. If you are claiming JSA yu should have given yur P45 to the JC who will make your refund at the end of the teax year (this week).
