Pre-school for under 3 year olds FUNDED

Hi

Hope someone can help.

Daughter is 2 year 9mths on 1st April (tomorrow) and as i am on WTC i have been told she can start pre-school funded on 20th April. The only thing is i have handed in my notice and will not be getting WTC from 24th April! Although i may get the run on................

I have 2 questions

1. Will i get the 4 week run on for WTC
2. Are there other situations in which you can get the free place (ie income support etc - as i will be working part time......)

THANKS
DFW since JAN 2009 - 2014 will be the year i finally clear debts :) Just to see which month :))))

If you are working 16 hours or more per week you can still claim WTC so will still get help with preschool.

Unfortunately i will only be working about 4- 8hrs max a week as a swimming teacher! The reason i am leaving fulltime is because i cannot afford childcare but as less hours am splitting the childcare between nanny and their dad on a Sunday. Least he can do as he does not pay towards them!

Not much help at the moment but the term after children turn 3 they get five 2 1/2 hour sessions a week that are funded.

Thanks. I was aware of that it's just that the nursery (where they have a pre-school) told me that she can get funded as i get WTC. Now i have handed notice in from 24th April i will get run on till 24th May...... and handy as i teach swimming part-time too so helps with childcare (only do few hrs tho so not entitled to WTC cos of it) - only thing is she is 3 on 1st July so term after 3rd b'day is Sept..... So i take it she can go till 24th May funded then has to wait until Sept.

I will get income support or JSA (rang them today) (do want more teaching hours but have to wait until they come available) so wondered if anyone out there has got funded place from 2yr 9mth by receiving these benefits..........

As far as I am aware, there is no funding unless you are working more than 16 hours a week.

You can combine two or three small jobs to make up the hours, and it includes jobs like Avon, if that is an option?

Just to make you aware, you can make a claim for IS but wont be entitled to anything for those 4 weeks that the run on is paid for.

Are you sure the nursery is giving you correct info about the funding?

  • I think the OP is referring to the childcare element of WTC of which obviously there would only be entitlement if the OP was eligible for WTC itself.

So to answer the previous question, I don't think the nursery were misadvising.
