40th Birthday Party !

Hi everyone
In December it will be my mums 40th birthday so we want to give her a surprise brithday party. Also my dads birthday is 4 days before hers but he is 42 this year. Although because on his 40th birthday we moved house so we couldnt have a party for him so this is going to be a joint party. So it is a party for both of them.

Anyway on to the party. I thought it woukld be nice if they could arrive in a limo. So if anyone knows a good limo firm in coventry please say. Also a good venue (hall or room) in coventry too. Also what else do you need to organise this type of party. I've never done anything like this before. :D Things like food and music and stuff. So it all has to be in coventry.

My budget is around £200 or £300.

Thanks a lot
Sorry for the long OP

If its going to be a true suprise, have a think about how you are going to get them there without them suspecting. You also need to think about how to get them there, appropriately dressed, without suspecting! As it will be her 40th, perhaps suggest that you go out for a meal and as a special treat you've hired a limo?

As for a venue, this will depend on how many people you have coming. You may get a village hall for a good price, or you may find pubs will give you room hire free if you have their buffet as they'll be making money on drinks. (This could help with the suprise as you could propose popping in for a drink before the meal!) The time you choose will have a bearing on how much food you need to provide. If you invite people to arrive for a 7:30/8pm surprise then people will probably have already had something to eat so you'll be providing nibbles more than anything.
There is no such thing as a free lunch. Its only free because you've paid for it.

Noone can have everything they want and the sooner you learn that the better.

Also meant to say, when you send out the invitations be really clear that it is to remain a complete surprise to both of them, in order to prevent someone letting it out of the bag! You'll also need to specify a time for people to have arrived by so that everyone is there when they walk in. But I'm sure you know all that!

If you have a budget of 200 pounds are you sure you wont to spend so much on a hired car? You could perhaps book them into a nice hotel for the night for that??? My oh is from a big family and there are often family events to go to, we have over the years hired a small village hall, hired a small room in the pub, and taken over families houses, and lately we have hired a room at a country club. You need to decide how many people you are going to invite and then try and find a venue. Have a great time.
