I've recently got a digital TV and am interested in subscribing to this service on Freeview (Using a CAM). Their website is unclear (to put it mildly) about the subscriptions options. Depending on where you click, the price of the Viewing Card and CAM is either £24.99 or £29.99, and the current promotion is either 3 months free then £10.99 per month, or 6 months half price (presumably £5.49) then £10.99. Does anyone know what the minimum subscription period is on these options please-I understand the minimum on the standard contract is 2 months, but there is no indication of how it applies on the promo offers?
I also recall reading elsewhere on MSE that cancelling your subscription with them can be a tortuous process?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

My advice is to stay away from them, they have the worst customer service in the world, they swore at me, hung up on me and ignored me every time I tried to cancel, the only thing that worked was cancelling my direct debit.

    :D

I've read similar. Firstly I would be careful about any of these 3 months free offers, as many I have seen have not actually had 3 months free! Mainly because they're incompetent numptties at Setanta who cant process things properly.. If you are to take these options, see it as a bonus rather than sometihng to expect.

Not sure if these are tied into minimum term contracts, normally its otherwise 30 days notice I think (although they may have extended it to 60?). When cancelling I'm just going to send them a letter recorded then cancel the DD so they cannot take any cash out, although I'm fully expecting them to either cut me off early or chase payment after cancellation :p

Still, for football its quite a good alternative to Sky Sports, although on the recent auction for TB rights they only won half of what they offer at the moment, so their premier league coverage will get worse.
    matched betting: £879.63
  • After foolishly using them once in the past, I'd echo whats already been said and wouldnt go near them again if my life depended on it. The sooner they go under which fingers crossed is now more likely given the fact their PL output has been halved the better.

The offers for Setanta on Freeview for new customers are

3 months free reverting to £10.99 (with £14.99 connection fee) however the nature of billing means you pay for month 4 at the start of month 2.

    or

6 months @ £5.50 per month reverting to £10.99 (with £14.99 connection fee) again you pay for month 7 at start of month 6 due to nature of billing system.

Both of these are minimum 60 day subscription with a 30 day written notice period which is applicable from next bill.

this is all very clear in te welcome letter you get on joining.

Hmm it looks like I have to pay £27 for one month (the first month)

Can I pay by monthly subscription?
Yes. The Setanta Sports Pack can be paid monthly by Direct Debit or Credit Card instruction. For only £12.99 per month, we give you 10 great channels with no annual contract. Connection fee of £14.99 applies.

    Oh and this:

Can I get the Setanta Sports Pack for just one month?
No, while there is no annual contract, there is a minimum subscription term of two months. You may cancel your subscription any time after the first ten days of your contract by providing us with written notice which will take effect one month after your next billing date.

Oh well guess I wont get to see the Newcastle matches in May after all.
