Glucosamine Sulphate supplement

Has anybody tried this for joint pain and, if so, does it work? Any comments greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I take it regularly. I used to get really bad knee pain especially when walking down hill, to the point I would be in tears with the pain.

It took about 2 months before I felt the benefit but now I can get up and down hill pain free!

Thank you all for your replies. It is for severe pain in shoulder due to wear and tear/arthritis, basicallly old age! Thought it was worth a try. That rose-hip treatment sounds interesting, I have never heard of that.

    NICE agrees:

When economically evaluating the role of glucosamine, the NICE Guideline Development Group concluded that:
    • For glucosamine sulfate, evidence to support its efficacy was not strong enough to warrant recommending that it should be prescribed on the NHS.
    • For glucosamine hydrochloride, evidence to support its efficacy as a symptom modifier was poor and, because only one product is licensed, it would not be cost effective to prescribe glucosamine on the NHS — NICE regarded measurement of joint-space narrowing as of questionable value.
