Eckythump potters on.

Hi Guys,
I thought I would start myself a little diary as I have been a long time lurker on these boards and now find myself in need of some of the moral support you guys are so good at giving.
Background.
household consists of me,hubbie and our 3 year old son
Hubbie is disabled due to spinal problems and is increasingly depressed as he blames himself for our money problems.
I work 2 days a week(for my sanity and so our son can socialise in Nursery for 2 days a week)
we are on a DMP( been on it for a few months and things seem o.k)

We just seem to be treading water at the moment as we have pared our spending right back but prices are still rising,my car is on its last legs and our household white goods seem to be taking it in turns to break down.

I have stated this diary so I can let off steam when needed as talking about our problems just seems to distress hubbie even more.

    Hi and welcome

If your white goods have decided to break down see if you can get some free ones from your local freecycle, you would have to arrange to collect them mind.

Does your OH get disability living allowance (its not means tested) and this may well provide an extra bit of money.

    Hi Horace,
hubbie does get DLA which is a great help as it pays for the extras he needs.
our white goods have all been repairable thankfully but these repairs have pushed us over our emergency fund.
I find it so difficult not being able to pop these extras on a credit card, but that was part of our problem it was fine when we were both earning a fulltime wage .

Hi eckythump - just coming along to wish you luck with your journey.

Are you part of the £10 a day challenge? - that is where you use cashback sites, gambling loopholes, selling stuff etc to make extra cash and keep a record of it. We share ideas on what you can do to get started. Free daily scratchcards for example give me £30 every month, I also get an average of £15 from bingoport, since last July I have had hundreds of pounds from various cash back sites, I've also made the odd tenner from writing reviews... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1521467

This is something that perhaps your OH could get involved with as well - and it would give him a positive way of contributing.... Just a thought....

Thanks for the good wishes Savingholmes,
hubbie used to do cash back sites but the meds he is on at the moment make him drowsy and give him short term memory problems so he has more or less stopped, the scratchcards sound intriuging though.
I think I have sold everything there is to sell on ebay already:o
will give your link a proper read when I have time
    thanks Ecky
