I have spent the last year in hospital and have just got out and been given a flat that I signed for today. I am in a wheelchair, receive High rate mobility DLA and lower rate Care component. I have applied for ESA today. The flat has no furniture whatsoever and needs flooring and painting too. Where can I receive help if any to furnish this and also what benefits am I entitled too. It is a one bedroomed flat in North East England. Also a neighbour mentioned £60 payout for those receiving DLA, was this correct. Please Help

For the £60 - if you received a Xmas bonus of £10 you should receive an extra £60 by the end of March.
Have you tried agencies like Freecycle for furniture? If you are getting income-based ESA you could apply for a Community Care Grant.

In some areas there are local projects which provide basic furniture and household stuff to new tenants. You could phone your local council and/or CAB to ask if there are any where you live.0
