Lg3000 32"

Hello,

I have been offered this by a friend for £250.00. He bought it new at Christmas, but has fallen on hard times and needs cash fast. He says it is 1080 p, but I'm not so sure looking on some sites. Does anyone have an opinion on whether this is a bargain buy, please? I need to give him a decision tomorrow, or he's gonna try elsewhere. Thanks in advance.

We bought one of those for our son for Christmas, it is 720p NOT 1080p.

    We paid £330 including delivery.

    As above - definitely 720p.

Good TV, but if you want 1080p, not one for you.

Thanks for those replies. That's what I thought. I mentioned this and he said he'd played his Playstation 3 on it, so thought that meant it was 1080!

Anyway, is it essential that I get 1080 anyway? I don't even know why I want it / why it's required!

Well I'm very happy with 720p. I've got my PC plugged into it and HD Videos are stunning.

Don't take my word for it though - I've only just upgraded from VHS :o so everything looks good to me!

I got one of these at Christmas and I use a WDTV to play HD tv episodes/films, I can't fault the TV at all, picture is spot on.

Ok, I think I'll buy it off him. Maybe, I'll offer him £220.00 rather than £250.00, seeing as I will have a second hand (albeit only three months old!) tv. So, what is the point of 1080, then, does it just mean a better picture. I think I remember seeing previously that even if it's 1080, if it's a rubbish make of tv it will still look poor. So, with LG being a pretty good make, I suppose that's why it looks good even with 720p?

It's available new for about £320. So if you pay £220-250 and it still has 9 months warranty on it, that's not a bad deal.
It's technically an 'obsolete' model now, but so is any TV after about 3 months anyway.
LG are not quite up to the quality of Panasonic and Sony, but if you are happy with the picture quality then go for it.
If you are viewing in HD, most people consider 1080 better, but on SD some would say 720p is better. On a 32 inch screen most people would find it hard to tell the difference.

You wouldnt even see a difference between a 768 pixel tv and a 1080 pixel tv on a 32" screen size so dont worry about that
I wouldnt be happy about being lied to mind!

My Son uses his TV for his Xbox 360 and the picture is stunning at 720p.

We also have a full HD 1080p 42LG7000 in the lounge and I cannot see a huge deal of difference when used with the Xbox.

The 1080p TV is superb when using our blue-ray dvd player, but that is what is it designed for.

Go for it, offer him £200 cash !!

Most xbox games are simply 'upscaled', which is why you wont see any difference (or very little)
