Hi wonder if anybody can help with this one.
My husband lost his job in january 09, i contacted the tax credits to notify them of a change in circumstances because we had a substantial loss of income, i still work full time. I was told i cannot claim working tax credit until april 09 because of what we have already earned up to january 09, i told them we only have income but it fell on deaf ears. I am already on the banruptcy and living with it forumn because I am now being repossessed because i could not afford mortgage and will have tonow go bankrupt. I am sure that i was given the wrong information by the tax credits and surely if they is a drastic change of circumstances they should be able to help. Has anybod else had this problem with them if so how was it resolved. By the way it took 4 weeks for my hubby to receive incapacity benefit and we couldnt get any help with mortgage payments.

Tax credits is based on your annual income from 6th April - 5th April the following year.
If, between you and your partner, you have earned above the income threshold for WTC in this year; you cannot claim in this tax year. The earliest you would be able to claim from is 6th April.
I know it is difficult but it seems that the information you were given was correct.
You can call up from 6th April to give them your joint household's etimated 2009/10 income.0
