i am recentlt unemployed and thought i would get free prescxriptins.the chemist said i needed a card
i am on contribution based j sa will i be able to get this card?

I just went the chemist and was just asked to fill in the back of the prescription with my name,address and national insurance number.0

You are not automatically entitled to free prescriptions if you are getting JSA (Contributions based). You need to get form HC1 to claim on the basis of a low income. The reason for this is because you do not have to give details of any other income/savings etc for JSA(C). Have a look at this

You are only guaranteed free prescriptions if you are on JSA(Income Based), as this is a means tested benefit.0
