My perfect day

I love weddings, really, I adore them and the best day of my life was my own. I was 5 months pregnant but that did not put me off re scheduling. I just wanted to marry my husband. I think so many couples have to deal with wedding politics. Pleasing others over themselves.
When we married, we decided to do away with the politics of sitting aunt Fanny next to uncle Reg because aunt Fanny and Hilda don't get on!
We arranged our wedding in 5 weeks! As I said, I was expecting but didn't want to be too heavily pregnant. The ceremony took place in the Yorkshire Dales in a wonderful pub which had a licence to marry. It was late November and we had a light dusting of snow. My dress was gold with an organza stole. My daughter in deep red shot silk, my hubs daughter in gold like me. I bought red and cream roses from Aldi which cost me a fiver and furreged the hedgrows for ivy, bunched them together and tied them with large organza bows. The venue scattered dried petals on the tables and we had tea-light candles. We entered the room to Louis Armstrong Wonderful world and signed the registar to Savage Garden Truly, Madly Deeply. We had no relatives, only close friends, people we really wanted to share our day with. I made our cake which we cut back at home. The room being decorated with swags of organza, ivy and christmas twinkle lights.
If I could do it all over again I would. It was our day, how we wanted it, but above all of that, it was about us wanting to marry each other rather than worrying about who to please and the awful wedding politics.
Just wanted to share. x

    Hi Linda

Thanks for sharing your day - it sounds divine and it demonstrates to others how you can do things the way that you want without any of the politicking that goes one and how you can make cakes and forage in the hedgerows for ivy etc.

I think this is where wedding planners come in very handy! The bride can pass the blame to the planner without having to fall out with relations etc over arrangements. (lol)

Its ok I don't mind getting the blame but remember as planners are only acting on the brides' instructions:rotfl:
